This short comedy was the final product of a New Mexico New Visions Award I received from the New Mexico Film Office in 2009. Shot on location in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico it follows two friends who spend a fateful day stuck there after being robbed. The individual scenes act almost as chronological vignettes to make up the narrative.
The piece played at a number of film festivals, culminating in the Best Narrative Short award at the 2012 Rainier Independent Film Festival.
The most successful part of this project for me is not necessarily obvious in the final product. This was the first time I had the means to bring together my ideal team of collaborators, and in addition to the senior crew members I also brought on a number of my students in assistant roles and even small parts in the film. The atmosphere of comradery and mentorship was in many ways the thing I’m most fond of about this one, which as an artistic piece definitely represents a moment of much learning.
